A Celebration of BB King - Claudette King with the James Montgomery Band

Saturday, October 17, 7:30PM

The Thrill Is Gone… but the music lives on!

Join us for what will surely be one of the unforgettable concerts as we celebrate the life and music of one of blues’ all time greats: B.B. King. This show will feature a star vocalist who also just happens to be his daughter, Claudette King, on stage with one of the great blues musicians of our time, James Montgomery, and his full band.

Claudette King

Claudette King is the youngest daughter of iconic blues master B. B. King. She quick to cite her father as her main inspiration. Trained in the gospel of the Baptist church from age 13, King is developing some of the emotional authority that one associates with her mighty mentors: Aretha Franklin, Etta James, Koko Taylor, Chaka Khan, Mavis Staples, & Mahalia Jackson. Blues, Jazz, R&B and Soul are quite literally in her blood…so it comes as no surprise that Claudette King has been making a name for herself with dynamic performances.  Critics and fans all agree her natural talent, soulful voice, and diva stage presence will take her far, very far indeed.

James Montgomery Band

While growing up in Detroit he learned first-hand from the masters – James Cotton, John Lee Hooker, and Jr. Wells – at the legendary “Chessmate.” Over the years, he’s carried on in the tradition and continues to be a vital presence in Blues as one of the most dynamic performers on the scene. He has jammed on stage with Buddy Guy, John Lee Hooker, Jr. Wells, James Cotton, and B.B. King himself!  James is putting together a special acoustic  band for this show…expect an unplugged evening of the blues with the same vibrancy and showmanship that has made him a crowd favorite.
