In what promises to be an electrifying performance by two world class virtuosos, violinist Alicia Svigals and jazz pianist Marilyn Lerner will join forces and spin symphonies out of simple klezmer melodies on the fly. Expect the unexpected!

Alicia Svigals is an American violinist and composer, a founder of the Grammy-winning bandThe Klezmatics and is considered by many to be the world's foremost living klezmer fiddler.  This will be the third time she is starring at our Gypsy/Klez Music & Yiddish Theater Fest and we’ve never been more excited!  Classically trained and infinitely versatile, Alicia has toured with Itzhak Perlman and performed with Led Zeppelin.  You may have heard her on NPR’s Weekend Edition, or Prairie Home Companion, or seen her on David Letterman or Good Morning America, or live at Tanglewood and Radio City Music Hall.  She is currently working on commissions by the Kronos Quartet and for the television series The L Word.

Marilyn Lerner flies down from Canada for this one-off concert.  Marilyn is involved in so many projects it is hard to list them all. A pianist of uncommon ability, her love for Klezmer based music is reflected in her past work with the Flying Bulgars, a klezmer band of international renown.  She is a member of the Toronto-based Klezmer band From Both Ends Of The Earth.
