Dr. Stephen P. Leatherman, aka Dr. Beach, whose annual ratings of the Top Ten U.S. Beaches draw national attention to our area, will give a special presentation at 5 PM. Coast Guard Beach in Eastham is # 5 on his list this year! Dr. Leatherman is a professor in the Department of Earth & Environment at Florida International University. He is an internationally known coastal scientist who has published 20 books and hundreds of scientific articles and reports about storm impacts, coastal erosion and ways to improve beach health and safety. He is frequently called upon to testify about environmental coastal science issues. As “Dr. Beach” (www.DrBeach.org), Leatherman has selected the annual Top 10 Beaches since 1991.

Tickets:  $100 per person, includes complimentary hors d’oeuvres donated by Far Land on the Beach, wine & beer donated by Town Center Wine & Spirits, and dessert from Whole Foods. Tickets can be ordered by mailing a check for $100 p/person to Friends of the Cape Cod National Seashore, P. O. Box 550, Wellfleet, MA 0266. Friends of the Cape Cod National Seashore is a 501c3 nonprofit organization – the tax-deductible portion of the $100 ticket contribution is $75.

Help Reopen the Red Maple Swamp Trail!
You can help Friends and the Park repair sections of the popular Red Maple Swamp Trail at Fort Hill that have been closed for several years due to structural deterioration and safety concerns.  All proceeds from the event and auction will be dedicated to restoring the boardwalk of the Red Maple Swamp Trail.
